Thursday 24th Sep: Adjustment

Long second day. Woke early to go for a run with Megan but miscommunication meant it didn’t happen. Four hours sessions in the morning with no breaks was hard. Crashed out asleep after lunch and had to be woken by somebody for the afternoon sessions. We covered policies including the Re-Entry Policy for young mothers in school, the infrastructure available to implement SRH along with discussion on what clinic work might entail and how to facilitate capacity building in the communities. All of it was useful, but heat, hunger and fatigue meant that my concentration levels were low. Feel close to passing out.

This evening we have no electricity so I’m sat in the courtyard on my yoga mat to write and draw by the light of the moon. No word about dinner: I’m not even sure if they’ve managed to cook due to the power shortage. I’d go to bed but I know that my sleep won’t be restful with this hunger so I’ll draw until my emotions settle. Everyone is dancing, laughing and talking but I have no desire to join in.

Tomorrow I’ll direct more energy towards learning and less towards socialising in order to maximise value of my time at training.
